| Customer Reviews: My first CamelBak and I don't know how I lived without it August 16, 2010 Gregory A. Macklem (Salem, VA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this CamelBak for my upcoming motorcycle trip to the OBX. I wanted a bare bones unit without all the cargo pockets because I wanted to wear it under my motorcycle jacket and this one fit the bill perfectly. It has one zipper pocket for keys, change, etc, but it does not protrude from the pack itself.
I just got back from my trip yesterday and the pack worked exactly as I hoped. I admit though, I still got dehydrated even after downing 70 oz during the day of riding and drinking during pit stops. I would hate to think how bad off I would have been without the CamelBak.
I intend to take the bladder out of the pack and put it in my hunting pack come deer season. My hunting pack is setup for a water bladder but did not come with one. So I will be killing two birds with one stone. I also intend to use the pack when hiking and mountain bike riding as well.
My only niggle with the product is after the water gets warm and sits in the hose over night, it does get a plastic taste for the first sip or two. It would probably pay to dump the water and refill it rather than letting it sit for a period.
If you don't have one of these yet and are active outdoors, what are you waiting for?
Love it so much! We use it even when not riding! July 9, 2010 Kristin I. Brown (Oklahoma City, OK USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is absolutely perfect for when my husband rides the bike around town. We originally bought this pack for him. I recently tore my ACL and after surgery was restricted to the couch for sometime. This was perfect for me in this regard, my favorite glass :-).
Camelbak Classic 70 oz May 30, 2010 W. Wetherbee (Flower Mound, TX) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I replaced my old Classic with the new 70 oz. Classic style. My old Camelbak had great quality and lasted over 10 years. It is actually still in good shape, but I got tired of the time it took to put ice in the small bladder opening.
The new model looks to have the same excellent quality and adds a small pouch (which is good to have) for keys, money, etc. I really enjoy having the large mouth on the opening and the tab at the base of the opening adds a nice handle to make screwing on/off the lid easy. The fit of the new Classic V's out more over the shoulders. This makes it feel wider. The shoulder straps are full nylon vs. mesh on the old style. I believe this is for comfort, but I had no issues with comfort on my old model and can't say it is an advantage for me. The wide shoulder opening makes it easier to get on/off, but it is not as stable without hooking the chest strap. The old model did not have a chest strap.
Finally, I like the fact that the water draw tube is shorter. The older one dangled too low and got in the way sometimes. The angle of the nipple on the tube seems to be off and I have to twist the tube when grabbing it for a drink. This is something I should be able to adjust. I fully expect to enjoy the new Classic for a long time.
