Product Description The ideal pack for trail runners and other fast day hikers is Octane's new and improved Octane XCT. Its lightweight material is incredibly durable, wide waist belt helps the pack stay in place, and 70 ounce reservoir holds enough liquids for multiple hours of high aerobic output.

| Customer Reviews: Great low profile pack with decent storage February 27, 2010 Darrin (Healdsburg, CA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this pack to wear under my snowboarding jacket(under my outer layer) and needed it to hold a very specific amount of gear; 1/2 sandwich, a bag of m&m's, 2 clementines, and 2 granola bars along with my digital camera in its hardcase. This is the perfect pack for this purpose.
I can fit my whole lunch on the left waist pocket, and my camera and one clementine in the other pocket along with more than enough water even for the most strenuous days of riding. Since the pockets are on the side, sitting on the chairlift doesn't smash any of my food.
I can access both pockets very easily with my gloves on and without taking off my jacket. I can bust out my camera in seconds thanks to this pack. The upper pocket is rather small and I only keep a trail map, hand warmers, and backup headphone cables in it.
The waist strap makes it very stable on your back during physical activities and the shoulder straps are much more comfy and better quality than on Camelbak's previous years packs(this is one of the few packs that was updated for 2010).
I ordered the camelbak rogue at first and it is crap compared to this pack. The XCT is such better build quality and even though both are listed at 4" thick when full with water, the XCT is much lower profile becuase the pockets are on the side instead of against your back. It is quite breathable and I don't even notice Im wearing it because the weight is distributed so well.
My only complaint about this pack is that the straps sometimes loosen a bit on their own. This may be because of the activity I do with the pack or perhaps becuase my jacket sits atop the pack, but its only a minor flaw.
I can ride all day without stopping now thanks to this pack. Also check out the pic of my pack when its full of my gear before a day of riding.
Amazing hydration pack for running... August 19, 2010 Catrina 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am a crazy trail running ultramarathoner who needs water, S-caps, and gu during hot weather training and racing. I have tried water belts, handheld bottles, and a number of different camelbaks. This one exceeds all expectations. A low profile and great weight distribution make for a comfortable run. The pockets on the side make for easy access to gus, gels, s-caps or whatever you might need to keep you going. There is also a nice small pocket for your iPod with space for the headphone wire as well. With a good burping of the bladder who won't even notice the pack, but will have all the essential with you to extend runs and shorten time at aid stations during races.
One minor downside to this and most packs- you need to adjust the pack everytime you put it on and will need to tighten the chest and waist straps as you exercise- but that seems to be the norm with most packs that I have used.
